First floor extension in Earlsfield

Lees Architects successfully applied for an additional storey to a studio house on a tight site in Earlsfield. The client wanted to extend to suit a growing family but had no space to extend at ground level. A previous owner of the property had submitted an application to extend above but had not considered the impacts on the surrounding properties, so the application was refused. We worked carefully to ensure the design did not have a detrimental impact on the neighbours’ windows and access to light whilst meeting the client’s requirements. The new extension will provide space for a large kitchen/living/dining space on the first floor with access to a small roof terrace. The reorganisation allows the ground floor to accommodate a second large ensuite bedroom and a third double room.
