Living space and Basement in Hampstead

The client required a contemporary 2 storey extension to their Period built a Victorian house in Hampstead. The house sits on a considerable slope, so we took advantage of this by creating a half basement with doors out into the garden.

Original features were retained in the extension, like the original bay, which was retained and incorporated into the living room, instead of demolishing. Internal London Stock brick along with large expanses of glass was used to develop the contemporary aesthetic. Double height voids and roof lights were implemented to create vistas of both the external natural elements of the garden and the existing house features such as the chimney.

The client is delighted and the additional area has finished off the house exceptionally well.
